Subject: 99 9-3 Broken Oil Pan

Hi, I managed to do a number on my oil pan this weekend. We've had terrible cold weather this winter, and I live in the mountains, so the roads are sketchy in the spring. Regardless to tell you, it's a blast to drive your Saab on windy mountain/country roads. I jumped a huge pothole (due to -20 to +10 difs in temp), and I put a crack in my oil pan. I was lucky enough to be 1 km away from my house and I got home and put my oil pot under the car. About 3 liters of oil licked from the car. And the oil light didn't come on for the short distance I had to drive. That's the lucky part! I took all the 18 bolts off the pan, took some covers off and I'm working now on the down pipe from the exhaust manifold. I found a used pan for $125 CAN (that's like $2US ;) Questions: Are there any tricks in installing the replacement pan? What kind of silicone should I use? I noticed the pan didn't come all the way off yet, there's a "guide" on the rear right corner that seems to be stuck a bit, do I just have to pry it off, or is there a way of taking it off in a "Saab" way? Any tricks or help would be great to know before I do any more damage to my baby! Cheers, Ben Anybody ever raced their Saabs on the frozen pond (spiked tires on)? IT'S FUN!!!
