Subject: SID's logic?

I have had my 2001 9-3 SE automatic for a little over a month now. Up until now I have only been driving to and from work and running around town. SID has displayed the fuel consumpition being between 10.6-10.8 L/100km. Last weekend I drove a 600km round trip to a friends birthday party. This was like a maiden vouge, the first time Saab and I had been on the highway together for a long trip.(Oh, this is a great car to drive, powerful and smooth) Anyway, I was following the fuel consumption expecting it to drop in the first twenty minutes(I read somewhere that the average consumption is based on a twenty minute time frame) but it did not. After the first hour it had only droped 0.2L /100km. It continued to drop over the 3 hour journey and when I reached my destination it was had dropped from 10.6 to 9.8. The next day i Returned to home and it had droped from 9.8 to 9.1. My question, what is the time frame from where the fuel consumption is measured? If I were to set out on another long trip, is there anyway to reset SID to show my fuel consumption on this trip? thanks, keith
