It is not that unusual, I had one in last week where the bulkhead had split from the lower chassis rail all the way up to the scuttle panel. the steering rack was floating about all over the place. This was on a 1999 93 that had covered only 35k. Saab have offered to pay 50% of the cost of repair, which in my opinion is not good enough. When I mentioned the problem to the dealer from who I purchase all my Saab parts, They were reluctant to disclose the amount of cars they have seen with this problem, But I have since found out that they are doing 3 or 4 per week. It is such a problem that there is now a repair panel available to facillitate repair. This problem also effects Vauxhall astra`s cavalier`s etc with the same type of steering rack. Had this been my own car I would probably have been so pissed off that I would have driven it through their showroom window, muttering "I think there is something wrong with the steering". Not bad for a twenty grand car. Regards Tom.
