Sounds like you may have the good old light failure monitor problem. In the relay box under the bonnet by the bulkhead, there is an orange box that looks like a relay. It's there to monitor the headlights and is a bit crummy. If it fails, it'll cause one or both of the headlights to go out. Try thumping it. If that makes the light come back on, take it out, take off the lid and re-solder all the joints between the base and the PCB. Cheers, Colin.
