I can count on one hand the number of piston or big-end bearing problems I've heard about in this group, over the last decade. If it's got that problem, suspect that it had been run without oil, which could indicate other (bigger) problems, but I'd talk to a different mechanic before jumping to any conclusions. > I took it to the guy who sold the car to me, to "try" returning the > car and obviously he said something like "he used the money and > cannot return it to me". Can you isolate the noise more precisely, like with a mechanics stethescope? > So obviously I cannot return the car, other than going to court and > hope to get something like half of the money I paid. Well, if you wait until it breaks, it's going to break more than what might need replacement right now. Again it comes down to getting a good diagnosis - it may be a benign noise, or it may be a "You will soon grenade a rod through the block" noise. Can't tell from here. > What to do oh what to do? Find out what's really wrong, when you do, come back to us and we'll hash it out. Dave Hinz
