Subject: Air Bag Warning Light

I too have had the same problem. '99 2.0t 9-3. When I first got the car it hadn't done many miles since the last service, only 2k, but was nearly 1 year after the service. When the year was up the service light came on but I thought, "ok, I've only done 6000 miles since the last service I will leave it and do it nearer 9-10k". 200 miles later the service light went out, but another hundred or so miles later the airbag light came on. Being the sinicle person I am, I thought that it might have been programmed into the car, so that if I ignore the service warning light, then something more serious, like the AIRBAG warning light would get me to the dealer that much more quickly so they can then charge you loads for the service and sorting out the AIRBAG "problem" Anyway I didn't go to the dealer until the 9-10k mark and asked the dealr to look into the problem, but he said there wasn't a way of knowing which part of the airbag system was the problem so I would just have to pay them for trying each part , 3 in all, at about £400 each, but they would refund me for a part change that didn't fix the problem. Anyway I didn't do this because it would ahve meant 3 separate days without my car, and of course I STILL thought that it was a manufactured problem anyway. (a quick computer reprogramme and hey presto the light has gone out and that will be £400 Thank You Sir) This was just to let you know that there are lots of AIRBAG problems out there in SAAB's but they don't know how to fix them at their expense and they don't seem to want to, it's a good money earner for them (I am taking about dealers) Regards Rob
