Where do you live and where will you sell the car? Have you thought about leasing the car? I can speak only for the USA. Saabs do not retain their resale value, when compared to other European or Japanese cars. If you buy the car, it takes the big decpreciation hit when you drive off the lot. edmunds.com is having server problems now, but I have the following: 2005 Saab 9-3 Linear Sedan is $28,000,, convertible is $38K and the ARC sedan is $31,000, Convertible is $41K USD 2003 Saab 9-3 is Linear sedan is worth $15,000 (to a dealer) with 24,000 US miles and the ARC sedan is worth $17,000 with 24,000 US miles. Private sale would get you more money, how much more would depend on where you are and hard you want to work selling the car. Because of this, I buy my Saabs previously owned. I let someone else take the big depreciation in re-sale value.
