Sweden and Norway were in a union from 1814 to 1905, before that Norway belonged to Denmark for several hundred years. This was one of the exceptions where a union has ended peacefully although it was very close to war. As the Norweigians have had their own country for quite a short time I guess they still want to be independent, at least until they learn to manufacture cars and until they run out of oil and salmon. They had some electric car design presented a few years ago but it never became a commercial success. -- th
