Subject: Oh god, what do I do about the C900 Cab.

After contacting the seller about the car, he said he wasn't sure=20 whether it was LPT or FPT but other visitors had said it was full, but=20 have a look at his website for better photos. I did, and I'm less than impressed. There is no doubt from the pictures that the car is in mint physical=20 bodily condition, but his description is very misleading. It it had been=20 all good, planned to go to about =A32,500. It finishes in 10 hours and is= =20 only at =A32000. He has it advertised on his website at =A33999. http://www.classicallines.com/classic_cars/419.jpg Yes that engine is very spangly and the rest of the car matches. http://www.classicallines.com/main.php?cat=3Dmain&car=3D18 Use the side menu for the rest of the pictures. Something is missing in that engine bay, several something actually. His Ebay Options description "Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Cassette Player, Catalytic Converter,=20 Central Locking, Convertible, Electric Windows, Leather Seats, Power- assisted Steering (PAS), Premium Sound System, Rear Spoiler" And he thought it was an FPT. Thing is, I'm not seeing any compressor, refrigerant lines or even an=20 intercooler there, the turbo appears to go straight to the throttle=20 body. More worrying is the oil staining below the dizzy. Suggests the oil ring=20 has gone or is going. And it looks fairly recent and still damp, rather=20 than having been replaced. MOT is only until Sept 2005, and I'm wondering how much little jobs=20 haven't been done, if the dizzy oil leak can get missed. He says it has=20 very good history. I know the reason it has only reached =A32000 is because it isn't in the=20 Saab section, but in the "Other Classic Cars", and not alot of=20 "ordinary" folks fancy them or think they could afford to run/repair=20 them, but I'm wondering, what is a late convertible 900 LPT with leather=20 but no aircon, a slightly didgy reverse gear and a leaky distributor=20 with 2 months MOT (at best) and 109k miles worth? I know they tend to=20 sell between =A33-7000, but what are they really worth? Should I go for this? It has been too far to go see it, so it will be a=20 blind bid, and trusting a car salesman. Or would I be better off waiting for the 130k mile 9000 Aero to finish=20 in a couple of days. That too will be a blind purchase, but from a=20 private seller and was planning to go to arround =A32000 for it. It is currently at =A31565 but hasn't met reserve. is that reasonable for= =20 a 1997 in black with dark grey leather interior? or there is a 9000 2.0 turbo on Autotrader near me. "1996 SAAB 9000 2.0 CSE EcoPower 5dr Cs Hatchback, Petrol, 185,000 miles, . Turbo,FSSH to 149k (Bay Horse Saab), receipts=20 after for proof of service, Airbags,ABS,EM,EW,CL,Computer,Cream=20 Leather,Climate and Aircon (that DOES Work),MOT til Feb'06, Tax 'til Nov=20 '05. The car runs very well. No expense has been spared on this car. I=20 even put a new windscreen in at my own expense since the old one was=20 hazy. Fuel consumption is 31.7mpg average but will go as high as 38 mpg=20 on long hauls. This car sailed through the previous two MOTs without any=20 work required. Excellent condition inside and outside, except for slight=20 scuff on rear bumper. NO rust at all. It has never let me down in the=20 two years that I have owned it. I only usually keep my cars for a year=20 and am only selling because I am after an automatic gearbox again.=20 =A3995." Still need to phone to see if it is available. And if so, if it is an=20 FPT or LPT. --=20 Carl Robson Car PC Build starts again. http://smallr.com/rz Homepage: http://www.bouncing-czechs.com
