Subject: Re: Which GPS to get?

I have TomTom on a PDA and a friend has a TomTom Go 500 dash mount unit. TomTom is brilliant. If I have a complaingt about it it is only that it will always try to re-route you on to the original route if you go off course whereas my old Garmin GPS V used to recalculate the entire route. Both have their pros and cons though. The TT method makes rerouting very quick compared to recalculating the entire route, but sometimes a recalculated route can be more efficient. If the Garmin has any advantage at all its in its out of car use. TT is hopeless if you try to use it for navigating away from roads (while out mountain biking for example). For me I prefer TT over the Garmin though as it is more intuitive, and (on a PDA) you get more than just a SatNav system. A.
