I just completed this upgrade on my 2007 9-3 SC 2.0T. After the dealer told me this was not possible, I proved them wrong. It took all of 15 minutes to install and a 10 minute drive to calibrate.

The plug for the mirror is there on all 2003-present 9-3's. Its on the passenger's side of the existing mirror mount, just under and behind the coverplate for the mirror stalk. Pop the cover off and feel around, you'll find it.

All mirrors from 2003-2006 9-3 AND 9-5 will work fine. The mirror is the same and the plug is the same for these years. However for 2007 the mirror dropped the compass feature (probably b/c Onstar/Nav), but the plug and wiring are still the same 2003-2007.

The part numbers for the mirrors used over the years are as follows:
12791048 (2003-mid 2004)
12756338 (mid 2004-present)
12772924 (2007 - does not have compass!)
These are all the same mirror, just a part number change perhaps due to mfgr changes.

The list price for a new mirror is $406.00. I bought a used one from Goldwing for $185+ship. It was out of a 2004 and in like-new condition.

Simply remove the cover plate, unscrew the old mirror (3 Torx T25 screws), install the new mirror, and plug it in. The directions to calibrate the compass and program your Homelink garage door remotes is in your owner's manual.

One tip on programming Homelink to your garage remotes, for some reason the taillights interfere with programming (found this in an old post). Remove fuses 10 and 26 from the trunk fuse panel and then program it....Programming didn't work for me until I did this step, then it programmed right away.

The autodimming mirror is really nice. When you put the car in reverse, it automatically switches the dimmer off so you can see clearly, then returns to normal when you shift out of reverse.

Hope this helps...from reading old posts it seems like people had some confusion about whether this is possible or not. The upgrade requires NO dealer programming b/c the mirror is self contained except the power input plug.
