I know that 'misery loves company', but there are also stories from the opposite side of the spectrum. I leased my '03 9-3 Arc 6 speed in 9/03 and the lease is up this September. Granted, the car only has 15,300 miles on it but I am considering purchasing it at lease end. The only real problem I had was the dreaded no warning dead battery back in 1/06. I prefer the '06 and older dash layout, 4 cylinder turbo power (not a V6 fan, but happy when I see a newer 9-3 Aero regardless), my car is loaded with all of the options (except nav of course), and I even have a factory installed locking gas cap door! That one is a bit of an inside joke for those who have researched it in the newer models.

A good number of the early 2003 release Linear models were problematic cars (stalling at highway speeds, etc.) and it sounds as though you have a 2004 Linear which is behaving in a similar manner.
