Nokian WR & Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta Posted by don_young [Email] (#815) [Profile/Gallery] (more from don_young) on Wed, 26 Jan 2011 22:17:43 In Reply to: Re: Another choice for All Weather Tires, AeroDave, Tue, 25 Jan 2011 13:49:47 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I'm running Nokian WR [G1] in winter on my '06 SC for 2x monthly trips into the Sierras from the SF Bay Area. Perfect tires for such use since >95% of the time I'm not on snow and they are quite competent on dry & wet surfaces. When the snow flies in the Sierras it's likely to accumulate in feet, not inches, and the Nokians are simply marvelous and in their element on snow-packed roads. And compared to the Nokian Zs that I run in the summer, the WRs are silent.
The Zs handle great (on 17" wheels) but after two yrs & less than half their treadlife they became unbearably noisy for me. I put up with them for two more summers but I won't go another season on them. It's not tread noise as much as rolling noise (ply compression/expansion).
Which bring me to my question to AeroDave: How do you like the Vredstein Sessantas? Would you recommend them? They look super and are surprisingly less expensive than Michelin PS2.
Thanks in advance.
