Thanks for the info. I found some time today to take a closer look at my car. The 5 speed is definitely different under the hood. I can't figure out how to pin the selector shaft to lock the tranny/ selector crank in neutral, it does not lift up and I see no pin hole. The other parts of the shift cable assy at the gear shift are the same, so I am giving the trial and error approach a go. I now have the tranny holding 1st, 3rd, 5th, but not 2nd and 4th, so I adjusted too far. Will have to see how long my patience holds out.
By the way, in response to Gator93, the motor mounts would not impact the shifting on this car as the cable set up isolates the shifting system from motor/tranny movement. Regardless my mounts seem to be fine. In other cars wich have a linkage system from the stick to the tranny, I can see how a busted mount could screw up the gear selection.
