Suspension/ engine tranny seals replacement Posted by Pete [Email] (#2000) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Pete) on Fri, 5 Aug 2016 13:39:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
2005 SS 2L auto.
Brakes are soft, and engine oil leaking. So think the brake system has to be replaced (vacuum pump, brake master, master cylinder, hoses); Bought/ordered complete suspension rebuild kits from eEuro, along with engine seals front/back, torque converter seal, fuel pump, etc. (Oddly, didn't see the oil pump o ring listed...manual tranny only?)
Anyway, major refit....about $4k (US) in parts (don't ask about the exchange rate to Canadian buckaroos). Want this baby to last another 10 years minimum and be safe for my daughter.
I asked dealer to quote on the installation of it all, and they quoted me $6700 for labour. *Cough* They wouldn't bill me straight time... only "book time" with some discount for overlap. This seem right?
So, I'm considering doing this myself. I've done head gasket and clutch replacements before (manual tranny). Any gotchas I should know about? I've printed out the WIS for auto tranny.
Thanks for any advice!
Pete
