BBA's work was fine - I've sent them other things like ABS modules in the past, but this was the first gauge cluster. Communication was difficult - I went round in circles with someone who wasn't sure what to charge or how to ship, but it eventually got sorted. My only real complaint is that after putting the cluster back in, one of the backlight bulbs and the right turn signal bulb didn't work - that was not a problem going out, and while it's possible they failed coming back from BBA I can't escape the thought they just didn't test anything beyond what I told them to. On the upside, it's a lifetime (IIRC) warranty and $1xx was cheap- far, far cheaper than any of the other alternatives. Even if I found a cluster from a wrecker, the cost to reprogram the odometer would have been more than what I paid for the service. I'd do the same thing again.
FWIW, the Jag's cluster sounds very similar to the 9-3's - one big circuit board with a bunch of identical steppers for the needles. I toyed with the idea of replacing the bad stepper with a good one, it just wasn't worth the risk trashing one or two clusters and having no useful result.
