Well, you called it!
With the air box removed and the cooling system pressurized with a tester, the leak appeared after about 10-15 minutes. I drained the system, replaced the o-ring (also completely discolored and covered in crud), and repressurized with good results.
Unfortunately, during this process I found the reservoir cap was literally falling apart on the inside, so the car is grounded a few days until eeuroparts can send a replacement. It may be for the better, as I am going to use the opportunity to do a double-DexCool flush, just to ensure the system is as properly new & balanced as possible. What came out is not orange or even pink, and I suspect the o-ring leaked for a while, and the previous owner may have topped up with green stuff - hopefully current green stuff, which is at least compatible with DexCool. No signs of sludge or goop, so I think everything is in okay Shape. With any luck, the missing pieces of the radiator cap will come out too.
