If a car battery has suddenly gone bad internally, jump starting with cables will not work.
EXACTLY the same happened to me with my wife's 9-3.
No forewarning whatsoever that the 2 year old Interstate battery I had installed was on its last leg.
I started the car and backed it out, had the doors open while cleaning the inside of windshield. When I went to start it, it was dead. I roll it down the driveway to make room for my car and some super beefy jumper cables but the damn car refused to crank over.
Had to run over to the shop and pick up a new battery to install.
2 years later just a few month ago, same thing happened. She wakes me up in the morning because car wont' start. No forewarning for the last two years that something was brewing.
This time at least I could jump start it and drove it to the shop and got a new battery installed and now it is perfect again.
So get a new battery and install it and it will probably be ok. Remove the key from ignition while changing out the battery. Otherwise you can fry sensitive radio equipment.
