I live in Michigan and 'shoulder season' snowfalls are common. Either I run the winter tires longer (and winter tires get squirrely on warm dry roads ), or use All-Seasons as Summer tires, or have three sets or tires.
But back to your original question, AWD systems generally require tires to be replaced in pairs on the same axel. I would not recommend different tires on the car unless the other older pair are both very fresh and no longer made.
