Hello,
Yes usually you can do it on the car, but you do need to remove the pads. Bolt the calipers back on and use a appropriate sized punch to knock the broken piece straight through. I have done it maybe a dozen times. Usually when I am trying to remove ones that want to break I use a butane torch on the aluminum of the caliper in that area and they free up. Sometimes it takes some patience. Good Luck, Bernie
