Anything is possible, and obviously something like ice forming on the sensor would be an issue. However, I think it's unlikely moisture got into the connector - everything on a Saab (and just about every other car for that matter) is weather-proofed. The electrical connectors are highly engineered to resist contamination. Unless it was unplugged, I wouldn't expect anything to get in there. Doesn't hurt to look though, and IIRC the sensor is pretty inexpensive, it's a very common part.
