loud ticking in stereo Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Mon, 29 Jan 2018 12:23:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So yesterday evening I started my car and was greeted with an obnoxiously loud ticking, which sounded very much like a digital metronome at about 180bpm. I soon ascertained that it was coming from the stereo. It seems like it's actually just coming from the centre speaker, though I'm not 100% sure on that. It's a constant volume, regardless of the volume setting on the stereo; but it is only there when sound is actively coming out (e.g. it goes away between tracks on a CD, and when switching between radio stations, but it does not go away if you turn the volume all the way down). The ticking rate increases while you're actively adjusting the volume knob, but once you stop it returns to the same 180bpm as before. Any ideas on this weird behaviour?
