NOT PowerStop Posted by Justin VanAbrahams [Email] (#32) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Justin VanAbrahams) on Fri, 16 Feb 2018 17:38:36 In Reply to: Re: New brakes, Gator Ray [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 16 Feb 2018 17:08:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Stoptech is not Powerstop. Stoptech is Centric's (IIRC) performance line - their best quality stuff. PowerStop is something else - I'm not sure if they're a manufacturer or just a name brand. Totally different quality of part *for sure*. I have used PowerStop parts on various cars and had really mixed results. The kit I put on my MIL's PT Cruiser was quite good all said and done - parts seemed high quality and worked well. I ordered a second kit from them for my E320 and it was a disaster. I sent it back and got a replacement, and the second was as bad as the first. Poorly cast rotors and ill-fitting rear pads. Someone on the Jaguar forum bought a kit from them for his XJ8 and was happy with the results, so I think it's really hit or miss... maybe worth the experiment, but not a known quantity.
I'd expect to pay 2x for Stoptech over Powerstop. Really different quality. On the Saab, I think I'd be more inclined to go with the Bosch kit over PowerStop... they may actually be quite similar ultimately, but Bosch is going to be a known quantity. You could also piecemeal something together, of course. No need to buy a complete kit.
