Glowing red turbo

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year (I'm on the solstice calendar). So probably this is a dumb question but always good to have feedback, I was having a nice drive under the clear sky and full moon last night, after climbing a mountain on the interstate (4th gear at 3k rpm and half boost for roughly 10 minutes, I stopped on top to have a smoke and look at the snow, noticed a little smoke coming from under the hood, which isn't uncommon because I've had a slight oil leak around the exhaust manifold for years now which smokes after getting the engine hot, anyhow, since it was dark I noticed a nice red glowing turbo. I'm assuming this is pretty normal after climbing a hill. After going down the mountain I stopped and she was not glowing anymore. Climbed another smaller mountain in 4th gear with middle boost for 5 to 6 minutes and she was up to her ole glowing self again.
Anyhow, this doesn't really alarm me because I know they get really hot and I've always been an idle down before shut off kind of guy. Recently had the diaphragm replaced so she is pulling nicely, no boost issues.
She is an 03 Linear with 413k miles so I'm playing with house money anyhow but want to keep her going. Oh yea, 5 speed manual with the original clutch. I'm not really alarmed and think it's cool in a way, but I also know factory cars don't always glow.
Thanks ahead of time and and hope everyone has a wonderful holiday, whatever you celibate.
