Weird Seat Heating Problem Posted by Ari [Email] (#2847) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ari) on Sun, 27 Jan 2019 17:09:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a 2010 9/3 2.0T.
The passenger's seat heater has stopped working, but the symptoms are strange.
In the Settings (accessible through the steering wheel INFO and SET switches), the seat heating is set to manual. (Switching to auto and back to manual does not solve the problem).
If I turn on the passenger's seat heater (to either output level 2 (2 leds illuminated on the switch) or output level 1 (1 led illuminated on the switch), the led(s) are illuminated for about 2 seconds, and then turn off. The seat does not heat.
If I press again, it moves to the next setting (i.e., from level 2 to level 1), and the led stays lit for a couple of seconds, and then turns off. The seat does not heat.
Now here's the really weird part: Once the led(s) have gone off, if I press the DRIVER'S seat heater switch to turn on the seat heater on the driver's side, the passenger's led(s) light up again, for two seconds, and then turn off. The driver's side works fine. I would have thought these were two completely independent circuits, and so I have no idea why pressing the driver's side switch would cause a reaction on the passenger's side (even if it's just to light the led(s) for a couple seconds.
So I'm COMPLETELY confused, and have no idea where to start to diagnose this. Has anyone ever seen something like this?
