valve job cost Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Mon, 22 Apr 2019 19:48:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just bought a 2007 9-3 2.0T that seems to have the worn valve issue. It reportedly has a problem with cold starting, but then runs fine when warm. I paid very little for the car, with the knowledge I was looking at a sizeable repair bill. So my question is, how sizeable are we likely talking about? And when the repair is done, will the valves be of a higher quality such that it won't reoccur? Any other things I should be looking into as possible causes?
Follow up question, is this a reasonable job to DIY for someone who's done an engine swap, head replacement and transmission rebuild on a 9000? I'm guessing by the price quoted below this job cannot be done with the engine in situ; hard to imagine that many hours working on the actual head.
