13 year old car with 100K miles in excellent condition but with a very minor coolant leak which has existed for a couple years (or more - time flies) with no apparent internal engine damage based on oil testing. Vehicle age results in low market value irrespective of its condition.
My previous service history has been to change the oil and filter every 6 months or 5K miles, whichever comes first, using only the recommend 0W/40 viscosity of full synthetic.
I guess I will try the 'magic pills', record coolant top-off amounts and frequency, and increase oil change frequency to every 4 months. Then regroup if things appear to be going south.
Sound reasonable? Hard to justify a high dollar value engine rebuild - especially since it may not solve anything if the problem is indeed casting porosity.
