I work in the oil fields (Odessa/Midland, TX) and drive back to DFW every weekend, it is 411 miles one way. The short drive to work, 54 miles each way is when I seem to loose the most coolant, and its only after I shut her off and come back to her that she is low. I filled it up when I left work, the reservoir was little more than half empty, I just looked at it and again it was low, about 1/2 empty, I popped the cap and let the pressure off and the tank filled back up to normal cold level. The two top little return hoses to the tank were hard as a rock when I got in last night, and the tank showed full but the large hose at the top of the radiator seemed empty, I could squeeze it and it was not hot and no fluid in it, is that normal?. It is not blowing any white smoke, it runs well except every once in a while I will have rough idle at start up in the morning, hence thinking some of the coolant is going into the cylinders, but then again I am not seeing any white smoke. What do you think my next move should be? I put a lot of miles on the is car every month, hate for her to let me down in the middle of no where. I really appreciate the help and advice.
