As you're well aware, this is a trouble-shooting site for diehard 9-5 owners and enthusiasts, who tend to be more picky and critical.

After two used 9000s---one of which was cherry, the other a repair-laden dog---I've owned my used 1999 SE SportWagon for three months now (silver, looks almost exactly the same as yours). 71,000 miles at purchase ($11.5K). My Wagon is perfect so far. Took me 2,000 miles in moving from Minnesota to Olympia, Washington, in May in total comfort and style without a worry.

Buying used is always a crap shoot, with or without warranties. Heck, buying new can be a hassle too. You do your homework, try to find the best car you can for the money you can afford, and then it's up to the gods whether it's reliable or not.

You want reliable? Get a Honda. (At least that's the conventional wisdom.) But even then, all cars break eventually, and some break often. Yeah, DI cassettes in i4 Saab engines DO seem to give out more than they should, and the stories on this board about 9-5 owners being stranded give one pause. But I think that would be true of almost any model from most carmakers.

Basically, it's karma, fate, and serendipity.
