parts are parts to them. So they take advantage for the same reason the airlines sell you beer for $5 that you can buy in a supermarket for $1. Because they can.

Only us DIY types buy parts online... I doubt the typical Saab owner realizes how much they are being hosed. For instance...

A friend had the DI on his 9-3 die while he was on a biz trip with me. So his wife got stranded and towed to the dealer.... who charged $650 for the DI plus labor. I told him it was a $300 part and took 5 mins to install. He was not a happy camper. But dealers do what they do and we just have to be smart enough to buy elsewhere. And let them know that we do that.
