Aero vs SE: Aero has considerably more power (torque and hp), and
a firmer suspension. Minor body differences. I have a '99 2.3
5 speed SE, and kind of wish I waited for the Aero, more for the
suspension than the power. I'm looking at making changes, or maybe
flipping the car for the Aero.
I'm in southeastern PA, so my climate is close to yours in NJ: I suggest
the heated seats (front and rear, why not?); I haven't tried the
ventilated seats, but would weigh the fan noise into the equation.
Snow tires? Well, we don't actually drive on snow that often - the roads
are usually plowed within a few hours, and since the 9-5 is FWD, I
haven't bothered with snow tires yet (my last several cars have been
RWD). However, they are cheap insurance, and if your roads don't get
plowed quickly, it's worth considering - especially if you get the
Aero, which I believe has more performance-oriented tires. As for
the brand of snows, there are several threads on the board about
that.
