The Motorola phone will work in the car, but depending on the model of phone that you have, you might not get all of the neat features that the factory prewired harness will support. Best bet is to let your dealer steer you to a phone install center that they use, so they can work out the bugs. Early On Star setups did not allow you to use your cell phone hands free because the on star system was connected to the car's microphone and audio speaker system. I understand that this has now been corrected by Saab, so you would be best advised to let the dealer direct you to the installer that they use. I have a Nokia in my 99, with all of the hands free features hooked up, and it is the best thing since sliced bread!.
As for radiation emmision from the antenna, the shark fin is considerably farther from the rear seat occupants heads than a handheld phone would be from it's user, and is also separated by a sheet of metal, which is a ground plane. In other words, don't worry.
Good luck
