Pool of coolant, what to do? Posted by aizzo [Email] (#1220) [Profile/Gallery] (more from aizzo) on Thu, 17 Jul 2008 07:08:40 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all -
My 9-5 wet the garage last night. I came out this AM and the garage floor had a nice puddle of reddish fluid under my car. I did some poking around and it looks like it's leaking from the back of the engine compartment (between the engine and the firewall). I'm guessing it's the heater by-pass valve? The expansion tank still has coolant in it, about half full. So, not too much has leaked, but enough to create a puddle.
Here's my issue. I don't have time to repair it myself now. I called Saab roadside assistance, but they want to tow it to the nearest dealer, which is not a dealer I trust/like. My preferred dealer is 18-miles further away than the nearest dealer. So, it would cost me ~$140 to get it towed to my preferred dealer.
Bottom line, do I really need to get it towed, or should I drive it 35 miles to my preferred dealer with the ACC off?
Thanks!
Alan
