If you replace the radiator with an aftermarket one, you will get a different type of drain cock anyway. I don't think that drain plug can be replaced easily and you might have to buckle the plastic on radiator to let the pin pass by. That might crack an old fragile rad.
Since it is the original radiator, it might be due for replacement anyway since they don't last that long anymore.
I always spray some WD40 on there before I try to open it and use a small socket with a slot cut through and long 1/4 extension to come in passed the trans cooler lines and subframe.
