Make sure you get an updated ECU. Many of the earlier cars had a defective ECU which made many run bad. Apparantly the manufacturer of the ECU's put something in the mounts that ended up chemically degrading the entire board. The ECU has been recalled and hopefully your 2000 will have the upgraded version, as most with problems were 99's. However Saab didn't issue the recall until about September of 2000 so it remains to be seen how many of the 2000's have a problem. Most problems begin to arise at 15-20,000 miles. The first ECU replaced in my car this fall wasn't the latest version and the car still ran bad until the dealer installed the latest version. As a prof, I'm sure you will like the car. I liked mine so much I now own 2 9-5s, a 9-3, and an older 9000. Reason first of all is Saab safety which is second to none, performance, utility, value and class with a little uniqueness and eccentricity thrown in.
