I was just down at Wigwam this weekend. I had a opportunity to drive one of the upgraded vehicles - a 9-5 Aero Wagon with the Step II kit for an auto transmission which provides 260HP and 380Nm of torque. The power was impressive, but I can't say exactly how much better it was than the standard Aero @ 230HP since I drive a 2.3 LPT (170HP) and I'm not used to the Aero power. It felt great, but better than the standard Aero? I don't know. Also it was the wagon instead of the sedan.

I can say that the stainless exhaust was very nice, and looked well put together. I was just slightly louder at idle than the standard exhaust, but nicely so - not annoying or out of character for the car. At speed you couldn't hear any difference at all from the standard exhaust.

According to Wigwam, the Step II kit provides 3 things: A reprogrammed ECU (for which Nordic has the "codes" to unlock the software directly from Saab), the new stainless exhaust (lifetime warranty) and a rising-rate fuel regulator.

They also said that the upgrades DO NOT void the factory warranty in any way.

For my car, I'm considering the Step II kit for the 2.3LPT Auto, which upgrades the power to 240HP and 350Nm of torque.

One thing I thought was strange though - I asked them about the turbo on the Aero vs. the 2.3LPT - as to whether the Aero turbo was a different and larger unit (thus generating higher pressure and power). They said no, the turbo on the Aero is "exactly the same as the 2.3LPT, but the intake manifold is different". I believe this is incorrect - which made me wonder if they know what they are talking about.
