The combo of soft rotors and hard brakes make it almost impossible that you DON'T need new rotors. they for certain cannot be machined down, and the cupping should be apparent just from looking at the car fully assembled on the ground and feeling it with your hand.
This is a big ticket item for dealers. When I was first due for brakes i was quoted about $650. Getting the parts online plus having my local guy do the work was about $275.
Fact of life - for at least 10 years now rotors have been poorly manufactured as original equipment by most automakers to save money, and in most cases the originals are done with the first brake job.
