The answer lies in where you live. Are there a lot of Saabs in your local area and shops that work on them? If so, do it. If not, look for something else. If Saab blows away there will still be the current network of independents who will continue to service the Saabs in your area (IF there are currently Saabs in your area). And if you're handy, the internet is an incredible source of information and parts (I guess you've probably head of Saabnet!)
Concerning resale, buying a Saab in today's uncertain situation is a lot like buying a house in today's real estate market; yeah, there's a lot of concern about what your car will be worth years from now, but hey - they're also quite cheap right now at the time of purchase!
In the distant past I owned an Alfa Romeo when they left the U.S., and a Fiat when they left the U.S. and I had the same fears you have. But the problems never really materialized and I continued to own each vehicle for as long as I wanted to. In the S.F. Bay area both parts and service were handy and comparably priced to other makes. But in Anchorage? Maybe not.
