Took in 2008 Aero for Service. 45k miles, told them get me up to date with service, new I needed plugs, oil change, rotate tires check the brakes....going to get out of there for $395. OK I can live with that. And by the way my add coolant message would come on intermittantly in the last week, figured it needed to be topped off, maybe a flush was due...Got the call there is a coolant leak in a pipe and to fix we need to take off the water pump, since we are taking off the water pump do you want to replace it anyway? No additional labor charge. $695 additional, or $200 less without water pump. After I got over the shock and asked how long the water pump should/could last, was told 120,000 miles I said no, I'll take my chances. 2nd call comes, water pump is leaking, I can show you when you get here. Fat bit of good that does me for what i know about cars and "my" water pump vs. the one laying around the shop. Should have topped off coolant to see how slow the leak was. So now I'm going to be at $1200 for the 45,000 service Argh.
