I'll be the first to admit that I cheaped out on the shocks, but given the state of the rest of the car, I don't think that was a bad call. NONE of the suspension parts have ever been replaced on this car ('00 lpt wagon), which I recently acquired as a project, at 150K miles. If things go well enough that I'm still driving it in a few years, I may upgrade and redo it. The work is fun and enjoyable for me.
