Just did this with an 01 with a Sony XAV-60. Had the Sony in for a bit, just got to this. Here are the tricks
1) You have to cut the blue / purple loop and put in a resistor to white. I used a precision variable 5k resistor and had to go pretty much to 5k
2) You have to hook the PAC to Accessory Power, I tried other, no go
3) When you program, you have to have the car ON, SID Plugged in, AND Sony ON. Then program and all will work pretty good.
It took me a bit to get all the ANDs with 3)
Steering wheel Radio Controls are back and seem to work well.
The XAV-60 is older now, may upgrade.
Used Clarion 2DBKT Universal 2-Din Mounting Sleeve and removed the OEM Metal mount.
The slide in was very close, use aluminum tape to build up sides of XAV-60 to fit very snuggly and then the supplied trim was just right for the Saab. Used two sided strong carpet tape on the back of the trim. Looks and works pretty good.
Used a Saab Radio converter cable....
