I'm working from "Permissible load (in addition to driver) = GVW minus curb weight and The maximum permissible axle load, front or rear, must not be exceeded."
(1) Permissible load = (GWR) - (Curb weight)
(2) Rear axle, gross load = (GWR)(50%) per 50/50 GWR distribution
(3) Rear axle, curb weight load = (Curb weight)(40%) per 60/40 Curb weight distribution
(4) Rear axle load capacity = (2)-(3)
How do we narrow down (4) to account for loads distributed across the entire back (seats and trunk) versus trunk? If weight is further forward, the front axle takes some load and then as long as (4) is less than (2), more weight can be carried until the totals reaches GWR or one of the axle limits.
One can go outside the bounds of the 50/50 weight distribution as long as one doesn’t exceed the gross rear axle load. The car may not handle in an ideal manner.
