Brake Booster replacement

Replacing brake booster on my 2003 aero. There was persistent hissing sound in cabin which went away when you pressed on the brake. Found unconnected vacuum hose which looks like it goes from top of transmission housing to brake fluid reservoir. not sure what this is for.
