The REC motor always parks itself in outside air position 10 sec after engine is shut off. When the system is healthy and quite, you don't hear it happening.

It's a very sad design and as they hint at, it is multiple failures of the REC motor system and as for a shop to repair and leave 1 year warranty on it, the quickest and safest way is to replace the motor unit and lever.
But I also haven't seen this repair kit before so I will look into it since the complete motor unit is difficult to find right now.

First we thought it was only the lever breaking, then it was electric motors going dead as a door nail, then just recently I had one where the shaft of gear box system that the lever is attached to had broken square off because the lever had been replaced and was now the stronger part of a weak system breaking the next weak design instead.

I even had one early 9-5 with some kind of factory wire harness loom fail, hooked up in series with the wire harness to REC motor. Never again have I seen that wire harness on a car but it had some kind of electric box where the wires went in and out of (resistor I would guess) and that had failed.
When I removed that thingy and plugged the wires in as seen on all other 9-5's, the REC motor started to work again.
