2000 9-5 lpt 2.3 auto. Been chasing this hot start problem and it's really stumped me. Started a week ago when my girlfriend was getting gas, wouldn't restart, started right up 35minutes later when I got there, drove home and wouldn't restart.

Now it is pretty consistently: starting when it's cold, runs and drives as it normally does. Get home and restart, will start, rev to 1500 and die. Repeat. Then will crank and no start. I can get it to restart sometimes but it's stubborn. Fuel pump is running when it's cranking and not starting, pressure at rail seems normal. No gauge but it sprays when i hit the test valve. Little bit on the car:

198k with ~100k less on dealer replaced engine/trans
Only code is 1406 from my dead alarm thing, haven't gotten to it
NSS acts up on occasion, has thrown a code in the past for it but been fine lately.
Get key not accepted/won't always hit the starter unless i cycle the key a few times or do the fob button trick. Starts without the trick ~75% of the time. Both NSS and this are always no-crank issues so it seems unrelated.

Things I've tried:
Replaced a rotten pos. battery cable
Plugs
Swapped a known good DI cassette
Swapped CPS
Swapped fuel pump relay
Couldn't put a good MAF in, but put my MAF on another 9-5 and it ran normally so should be fine
Did superficial on-car throttle body clean
Fuel pump and filter have about 20k on them, pump's running

Not sure where to go now? Since I've bought it the car has a pronounced hesitation under steady acceleration. It drops out at around 3k rpm and hesitates/flutters before continuing to rev. I've described it to others as seeming like it's searching.

Only thing I've really got left is to do the more thorough clean of the TB, have seen people mention cleaning TPS contacts? Haven't found a write up. No codes or anything, but would a failing/confused TB be causing my hot start issue? I was sure it was the CPS, then I was sure it was the DIC, then the MAF... I can't win!

Thanks!
Mike K.
