Some info on Nordic upgrades Posted by Karl [Email] (#161) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Karl) on Mon, 16 Oct 2000 17:21:09 In Reply to: Re: Nordic engine upgrades and Wigwam Motors in USA - long, Jay Bailey, Sun, 15 Oct 2000 21:31:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi,
Well, first of all, Nordic is a well reputed Saab tuner here in Sweden. They are not at all the only one, and are perhaps considered to charge a "hefty" price for their services.
Their exhausts are hand made by another Swedish company called Ferrita (http://www.ferrita.com), and come with a lifetime warranty for the original owner of the exhaust. I had one on my previous car. They are very nice, perhaps a tad bit too quiet... I only had that car for less than a year, so I can't comment on durabílity...
Regarding Nordic's tuning kit, I'd honestly prefer it on a 9-5 Aero than on a 9-5 LPT, especially the 2,3. The Aero has several hardware improvements (that have been added to the 2,3 LPT for 2001) in terms of pistons, cranks etc... So, in short, the Aero is much better suited for performance increases than the LPT is. Contrary to the 9K you can't tune the LPT to the same max power as the FPT.
But then again...lots of Saabs in Sweden run happily with hp well beyond 170...
For the 2,0 LPT Nordic has a kit which gives 220 hp. This is obviously not the same as Saabs 192 hp kit...
As for the turbo question...the Aero has a Mitsubishi TD04 HL-15T (#5 exhaust housing), whereas I believe the 2,3 LPT has a Garrett GT17...
That's all folks...
Karl (97 9000 Aero, 260 hp+)
