Coolant smell when heat comes on

Hi guys,
Car is '05 9-5 S/W. As the weather getting a bit colder, the car is turning the heater on in the morning & smell a strong odor of coolant in the cabin.
The odor seems to go away after couple of minutes, but you can feel it is still there all days. Only when I adjust temperature to very low, the smell disappeared.
This sounds to me like a leak in the heater core. But to make sure are there any other candidates before I just go to replace heater core?
Will the Bars-leak fix?
The heater by-pass valve already replaced. Coolant seems to loss but very little.
TIA guys!
CE
