The rust has finally perforated the rear wheel wells, bottom of the doors, the Trunk lid is in rough shape.(id replace that completely, no repair).
I can deal with mechanical wear items as they come along.
Unfortunately I am less and less inclined to drive the car the long distances like I used to. A failed part far from home with less and less mechanics to fix it make me choose an alternative.
Not all of us will be able to keep their wonderful 9-5s.
Mine is already almost 15yrs old. As a daily driver and long distant runner it will, for me, need to be moved along.
Sure, I could put 5k into mechanical repairs. It wont stop the rust, nor will repairing the rust.It will come back and fast.
I live in a heavy salt area that spreads it on the roads for 6 months of the year.
New rear rotors and serpentine belt going in next week, and a valve cover gasket kit rear soon.
The road salt here eats machines.
This car has outlasted any previous car I had.
The build integrity is beyond my expectations.
Im the second owner, and it came from the south east.
It was in excellent (beautiful) condition when purchased.
I live in buffalo NY, USA.. we have had a mass amount of snow fall in the last few day, 6 feet, more on the way.
Of course the answer was to use more salt on the roads... ughhhh.
On the positive... this car is AWESOME in the snow.
This machine makes me smile and keeps me safe.
