True about the breakaway brake pedal in the SAAB. It would be interesting to see how the cars compared if tested with pressure being applied to the brake pedal at time of impact. Perhaps SAAB then would out perform the others on this injury measure.
However, when it comes to the comparison as conducted I think one must concede there is something of an issue. For one thing given that the accelerator pedal offers no real resistance and readily goes to the floor the concept of a breakway accelerator pedal to reduce foot and leg injury seems to me a silly one and I doubt there is such a thing. Furthermore, even if that did account for the difference, which I am not accepting for one moment, SAAB too should have one.
That issue aside the SAAB is clearly a very safe car and overall may well exceed the saftey offered by the others.
