I tend to agree with Boris for the most part. As we know, there is a certain science to failure modes and frequency but individual circumstances vary. For example, I may put in a new what I think may be OE quality DI into the HER 9-5 and swap the old one into HIS. The idea that new parts are failing prematurely is a disturbing one for enthusiasts that like extended ownership intervals. My old Volvo 240 which I purchased new in 1987 had, at 550,000km and 22 years, the original engine, clutch and transmission, radiator, upper and lower rad hoses, P/S lines etc. It was the rust that did her in. A nice young chap bought the car for among other things, the front struts and springs which were original!
